Release: House Majority Whip Scalise and Congressman Abraham Endorse Kennedy for U.S. Senate

BATON ROUGE, La. – House Majority Whip Steve Scalise and Fifth District Congressman Ralph Abraham, M.D., today endorsed John Kennedy in his bid for the U.S. Senate.

“John Kennedy has a proven record of fighting for hard-working Louisiana families as a watchdog for taxpayers,” said Scalise. “He will be a strong, conservative voice for our state in the U.S. Senate and will work to get our country back on track.”

Scalise is the third-highest ranking Republican in Congress and the U.S. Representative for Louisiana’s First Congressional District.

“John Kennedy is exactly what Washington needs: a straight-shooter who tells it like it is and always fights for what’s best for Louisiana. The Senate needs more folks who use good common sense, and we can count on John to do just that as we work together to end wasteful spending and rein in this crippling national debt,” said Dr. Abraham, the Congressman for Louisiana’s Fifth Congressional District.

Scalise and Dr. Abraham are the latest Louisiana leaders to throw their support behind Kennedy. Sen. David Vitter, Sen. Bill Cassidy, Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry, Rep. John Fleming, Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser and Rep. Charles Boustany earlier endorsed Kennedy.

“I’m proud to have Congressmen Scalise and Abraham’s endorsements, and I look forward to working with them. Conservatives in every corner of Louisiana are uniting behind my campaign because they know I can bring about the kind of conservative change Washington desperately needs so that we can get our nation going back in the right direction,” said Kennedy.

Release: Former Lafayette Mayor-President Endorses John Kennedy for U.S. Senate

BATON ROUGE, La--Former Lafayette Mayor-President today endorsed John Kennedy in his bid for the U.S. Senate. Durel joins more than 100 elected officials from throughout Louisiana from all levels of state and local government in supporting John as Louisiana's next U.S. Senator.

"I have great respect for the work John Kennedy has done as Treasurer," said Durel. "His support and guidance have been invaluable to the people of Lafayette and the growth of our city. He will make Louisiana proud as our Senator."

"Mayor-President Durel and I enjoyed a great working relationship during his time in office," said Kennedy. "I'll be turning to him to help turn out the vote in Acadiana. As your Senator, I'll make Louisiana taxpayers my top priority."

Release: Kennedy Comments on Offshore Revenue Sharing Vote

BATON ROUGE, La. – John Kennedy today applauded the efforts of U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy to pass the “American Energy and Conservation Act.” Cassidy’s bill would have benefited Louisiana by providing for more revenue sharing for states involved in existing or future energy production.

This legislation would have generated hundreds of thousands of new jobs and billions of dollars in additional revenue, a portion of which would go to Louisiana for coastal conservation efforts.

The bill received the support of the majority of the Senate in a 51-47 vote, but fell short of the 60 votes needed to advance the bill.

“Today’s outcome shows why every vote in the Senate is important,” said Kennedy. “I’m focused on growing our economy, bringing back our oil and gas jobs, and restoring our coastline. My opponent has spent 30 years pushing new taxes on our energy sector. I will always put Louisiana’s interests first, and will fight to protect our state.”
