BATON ROUGE, La. – John Kennedy today applauded the efforts of U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy to pass the “American Energy and Conservation Act.” Cassidy’s bill would have benefited Louisiana by providing for more revenue sharing for states involved in existing or future energy production.
This legislation would have generated hundreds of thousands of new jobs and billions of dollars in additional revenue, a portion of which would go to Louisiana for coastal conservation efforts.
The bill received the support of the majority of the Senate in a 51-47 vote, but fell short of the 60 votes needed to advance the bill.
“Today’s outcome shows why every vote in the Senate is important,” said Kennedy. “I’m focused on growing our economy, bringing back our oil and gas jobs, and restoring our coastline. My opponent has spent 30 years pushing new taxes on our energy sector. I will always put Louisiana’s interests first, and will fight to protect our state.”
Baton Rouge, LA--Congressman Charles Boustany today endorsed John Kennedy in his bid for the U.S. Senate. Congressman Boustany joins U.S. Senators David Vitter and Bill Cassidy, Congressman John Fleming, Attorney General Jeff Landry, and Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser in supporting Kennedy for U.S. Senate.
Baton Rouge, LA--Louisiana Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser today endorsed John Kennedy in his bid for the U.S. Senate. Lieutenant Governor Nungesser joins Attorney General Jeff Landry, U.S. Senators David Vitter and Bill Cassidy, and Congressman John Fleming in supporting Kennedy for U.S. Senate.
"I support John Kennedy 100 percent in his run for U.S. Senate," said Nungesser. "John Kennedy is someone who tells it exactly the way it is and isn't afraid to take a stand. That's why the people of this state trust him. I know he will go to Washington and continue to fight for the people of Louisiana just like he's always done."
"I'm proud to have the endorsement of Lieutenant Governor Nungesser," said Kennedy. "I believe America's best days are still in front of us. I'm ready to go to Washington and fight alongside President-Elect Trump to turn this country around."
The runoff is set for December 10, 2016.
